Se han producido bastantes novedades desde nuestro último boletín y las cosas siguen cambiando rápidamente. El transporte marítimo sigue siendo un reto a nivel mundial, con los puertos de la costa oeste afectados por una fuerte congestión debido al increíble número de importaciones. Esto está causando importantes retrasos en el tiempo de tránsito, así como en la disponibilidad de chasis para manejar los contenedores y causando demoras portuarias adicionales y cargos por chasis.
Esta congestión está estrechamente relacionada con el aumento de la demanda mundial de exportaciones asiáticas, unido a la reducción de las frecuencias de navegación y al gran número de contenedores vacíos retenidos en los puertos de la UE y Estados Unidos, lo que ha creado una importante escasez de contenedores en Asia. Esto está provocando que los envíos se retrasen durante semanas, alargando así el tiempo de tránsito.
Due to limited space, shipping lines are now charging rates that are 200% higher compared with this time last year. Airfreight has also become very expensive, although pricing is less volatile. Our partners anticipate that freight rates will continue to increase throughout Q1 2021, with some predicting a relief in Q3 2021. Naturally, we are doing all we can to mitigate these expenses and we are certainly letting our clients know when there will be changes to the agreed upon rates.
